I was a former Assistant Director, Senior Clinician, and Co-Director of Training for 25 years at a nationally recognized clinic specializing in the cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related conditions. I am also the author of Healing from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: A Mindfulness-Enhanced CBT Approach to Regaining Control and Restoring Peace of Mind (Keuler, 2020).
I am currently a Washington, DC., Maryland, and Virginia licensed psychologist in private practice with extensive experience in evidence-based and mindfulness-based psychotherapy approaches. I specialize in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and a broad range of anxiety and depressive conditions in adults. I work predominantly from a mindfulness-enhanced cognitive-behavioral approach and routinely incorporate acceptance-based tactics to assist clients in overcoming their conditions. The psychotherapy work is always lively, collaboratively, and solution-focused. Interventions routinely include exposure and response prevention (E/RP) for OCD, direct exposure for anxiety, behavioral experiments, behavioral activation, mindfulness-informed skills, and cognitive restructuring exercises. Therapy frequently requires “homework” assignments between sessions to ensure that therapy skills develop over time and generalize successfully to clients’ lives.
I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Catholic University of American and my clinical training through New York University Medical Center, Bellevue Hospital. I am currently a faculty member at the Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) associated with the International Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Foundation (IOCDF). I currently hold an Associate Professorship at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and I have presented at several national conferences over the years.
