One-on-one psychotherapy helps individuals learn and apply skills to manage their difficulties. I work in a collaborative manner with clients to identify targeted treatment goals and work systematically to achieve them. I utilize evidence-based approaches that primarily draw from a cognitive-behavioral orientation in combination with mindfulness-based interventions. Sessions, usually weekly, help clients to identify and change patterns of unhelpful thinking, address overwhelming emotions, and select adaptive responses to overcome their suffering. Therapy takes place over video conferencing. However, we may agree to do some therapy in the community when doing exposure-based work.
Online video-based psychotherapy is currently offered for all clients and has proved to be a successful platform when offering mental health services. Telehealth is particularly useful for clients who would find in-person sessions difficult to manage. Telehealth has also been a valuable tool for individuals who struggle to leave their homes due to anxiety or who have time constraints that restrict or preclude in-office visits. I conduct all telehealth, video-based therapy using a secure HIPAA-compliant platform. I am licensed to practice telehealth across state lines. Check here to determine if your home state participates! https://psypact.org/mpage/psypactmap
I offer accelerated (intensive) outpatient psychotherapy services for those individuals requiring multiple sessions per week. Accelerated treatment may also take the form of longer individual sessions than the standard 45 minutes or 1 hour session (e.g., 90 minutes or 120 minutes). Accelerated care may be indicated for individuals who have not experienced sufficient progress in the past with once-weekly therapy, individuals staying in the area for brief periods of time, or for those individuals who would benefit from working intensively during a short interval of time. College students on winter or summer break often find this option appealing.
